Gravity Gold Rush

“The Gravity Gold Rush” by Ian Freeland was published in the June issue of Australian Gold Gem & Treasure Magazine.

Here are some quotable quotes from the two page article:

“We have all heard of mercury and cyanide being used in the recovery of gold. Now there is a dramatic shift in the gold sector towards a new age of gravity recovery devices and techniques.

..The Micron Mill Wave Table… is revolutionizing the recovery of gold in particular, in prospecting and small gold mines right up to the largest of gold mines.

..People are using the Wave Table for both alluvial as well as hard-rock gold operations…

The beauty of the device is that minerals will be recovered in their order of specific gravity. In other words, gold will form a line across the width of the deck on the highest part of the Wave Table while iron pyrites (foolsgold) will line up below the gold.”

How-to Workshop To Help Prospectors

“How-to Workshop To Help Prospectors”

That’s the title of an article the Kalgoorlie Miner recently ran (30 May 2008, page 5) about Ian’s visit to Kalgoorlie. He was a visiting guest speaker/demonstrator at a workshop for gold prospectors and miners.

The article says, in part:

Mr Freeland will bring with him a “wave table” to demonstrate the table’s ability to recover ultra fine mineral particles.

“For example, with gold, the problem has always been dealing with the sub 50 micron sized fraction,” Mr Freeland said.

Now these valuable ultra fine mineral particles can be recovered at a high recovery rate on the wave table.

The compact concentrator table also has a low water usage and even operates with dirty water.”

Kalgoorlie Demo for Gold Wave Table

Gold Wave Table principal, Ian Freeland, recently demonstrated the operation of the Wave Table to a group of interested prospectors and miners at Kalgoorlie. The Amalgamated Prospectors & Leaseholders Association of Western Australia (APLA) hosted the well-attended field day.

This photo shows Ian demonstrating the model M8 Wave Table to a group of interested prospectors at the field day.

And in this shot (also full screen so it opens in another window) a sample is being processed by the M8 Wave Table for a group of interested prospectors.

This field day/demonstration at Kalgoorlie was held on 1st June 2008.

Mining Industry Booming

See the new link in the menu strip above? It is for the Newsletter. This is where you can always download the latest newsletter from Action Mining Services, USA.

In this issue, the AM folks mention our Ian and how busy he is, considering how mining is booming “down under”.

The newsletter also contains technical news, photos of the micron wave tables, a photo of the Action Mining premises in Oregon, and a brief note about recycling.

Assay Equipment

I asked Ian what are the best sellers in Australia from the Action Mining catalogue — or catalog, as American folks spell it.

He tells me it’s…

* Assay equipment, furnaces, crucibles and cupels

* Technical books on assaying and CLS leaching, and

* Impact grinding mills.

But the main thing that is keeping him busy these days is enquiries about the Wave Tables.

And no wonder, with the gold price continuing to trend upwards.

Thanks Ian.
